Raymond Huffman

StitchMallone requested that we start a suspect thread for Ray Huffman.
Info about Raymond Huffman, from San Fran should go here. This guy looked pretty similar to the SF sketch, and he made comments about killing people. He was employed as an aviation mechanic(wingwalkers), and of course, he has those famous R.H. initials from the Bates case desktop. He also claims that he was questioned by SFPD about murders. Were they the Z murders?

Thanks Morf really appreciate you letting me make this page about Ray. As for the murders Ray was questioned about. Ray claim to have killed 17 people. After a drunken fight his roommate Peter told the police that and Ray was brought in and questioned about his claim. I do not know if LE suspect him of the Zodiac murders but with how he looked like the sketch I would think they would. This was in the mid 80's though and Zodiac was just a memory by then so who knows' for sure. I will be posting more later what I know about Ray.

For what its worth, there were alot of HUFFMANs in the 65 Riverside Directory,but none were named Ray or Raymond

Thanks Morf! In the Vallejo directory there is HUFFMAN PEARL (WID ALBERT) 1545 BROADWAY ST. I'm wondering if that could be Ray's sister. Here is what I have on her. Viola Pearl Huffman, b. February 18, 1920, Stapleton, Nebraska

Probably not Raymond's sister if she was married. Huffman would be her maiden name. I'll go look and see if I can find Raymond in the censuses at Ancestry. We would have siblings and parents names if he's there.

There is a MARY LOU HUFFMAN in the 65 Riverside directory at 18360 Hibiscus

His brother Lloyd was married in 1967 and died in 1975 in Minnesota. Lloyd was in the Navy May 3 1945 to July 30 1946. Still looking at the others.

Just checked again, at the same address is a GALEN HUFFMAN(age unknown) maybe the Son,Brother,or Husband?

I think this is brother Charles. If so, he enlisted in the Army in Kansas. Nebraska is a tough state to research because there are few records to look through. No birth or marriage records to speak of at all.

One thing though, it looks like what you found has Mary Lu dying in 1937 at about 3 years of age. She is on the 1940 census as being 6 years old. Not sure what is up with that!

I know that census records are not perfect and at times because they are handwritten records that are transferred to the internet they get messed up in the transition. Also, when people make family trees they rely on relatives to have gotten the facts straight when, in fact, sometimes the memory isn't so good. Could be a combination of both here.

That sounds like what might have happened. Thing though is she the same one in the Riverside directory. The one in the directory is Mary Lou Huffman.
